Can a lich ever truly be defeated? While adventurers were able to stop Valindra Shadowmantle from completing the full Scaleblight Mythal in the Dragonbone Vale campaign, her attempt has left a mark on the Forgotten Realms. The failed rite has released a pulse of malevolent energy throughout the Sword Coast and awakened dragonsight in countless dragons. The tormented dragons have now begun assaulting the inhabitants of Faerûn and it’s up to you, brave heroes, to face the fallout of these events in Neverwinter: Dragonslayer!
Dragon Hunts
This module introduces a new queue system: Dragon Hunts. Adventurers have confronted numerous dragons throughout Neverwinter, but this new threat will require the expertise of the notorious dragon hunter Smerdiuk Dragonbane. Enlisted by Lord Neverember, Smerdiuk and his crew have set up a new base of operations in Protector’s Enclave to provide aid to those seeking to face off against the might of the dragons.
Located near the Deekin Street gate in Protector’s Enclave, Smerdiuk Dragonbone’s camp is composed of expert hunters that will guide and assist in Dragon Hunts. At the Dragon Hunter’s Camp, players will find the trusty smith Gurness Stormforge, the dragon tracker and hunter Aerlyna Everfell, the intimidating and mysterious Zaraloth the Essencekeeper, and Dhomir the Pious, Smerdiuk’s lifelong friend and healer of this group. Armed with vast knowledge, this crew will provide assistance, resources, and rewards.
Dragon Hunts can be accessed via the Queue system and offer both solo content when facing young dragons and group content in the forum of three-person parties when confronting adult dragons, and a need for five party members when taking on the challenge of powerful ancient dragons. Defeating these dragons will allow adventurers to harvest parts needed to obtain a variety of rewards; those who find stronger challenges rewarding will enjoy Hunt Modifiers. These modifiers alter how the hunt plays out, empowering the dragon but also increasing the rewards gained at the end of a hunt. A new Campaign will guide players through the Dragon Hunts progress, allowing players to gather Elemental Strands in order to unlock and upgrade Dragon Hunt Modifiers and collect new dragon hunter gear.
Trial Rework
For adventurers seeking even larger group content, Neverwinter: Dragonslayer brings a reworked versions of Tiamat and the Standard mode of Crown of Keldegonn. No dragon-focused content is truly complete without the presence of Tiamat. The 5-headed chromatic dragon goddess has returned in an updated version of the Rise of Tiamat trial. Players will need to forget everything they once knew of this fight and be prepared for arduous encounters and challenging achievements.
For players seeking to experience a more accessible form of the Crown of Keldegonn content, the Standard mode of this trial will be available. In this Standard mode, the trial can drop the Antique and Fortified weapons from the Dragonbone Vale zone. While the chests do not contain Valindra’s Gems, they can drop seals, refinement gems, and other premium reward items.
Lockbox Reward Structure Changes
The new Dragon Cult Lockbox will be available at the launch of Dragonslayer and with it, a new reward structure. The positive response to the Knox Box strongly influenced the decision to make updates to how lockboxes provide rewards. Lockboxes will still require an Enchanted Key but players will notice that odds are now displayed when examining the lockbox. The second major change is a progress bar that advances each time you open a lockbox. This display also shows specific milestones that guarantee a bonus reward. This progress bar will reset upon opening 250 lockboxes, with players awarded a Dragon Cult Choice Pack.
Along with Dragon Hunts, Trials, and other Systems changes, the new module will also allow players to re-experience the Well of Dragons zone and the Tyranny of Dragons campaign as an Epic Adventure. The dragons cross the Sword Coast have prepared for your arrival with updated looks, powers, and a thirst for adventurers. Neverwinter: Dragonslayer is now available to play on Xbox!
