Trump has left the White House, but The Boys is still dealing with the political fallout from that — specifically, the mess that Homelander (Antony Starr) created in season 3 when he lasered someone’s face off.
As we see in the trailer, which premiered at CCXP, things have gotten even more dire and high stakes in the world of The Boys. People are tearing each other apart at protests — the pro-Starlight (Erin Moriarty) camp against the pro-Homelander one — and people are itching for a fight, fighting, and jumping out of windows. All while a voiceover (seemingly) instructs Homelander how to tee up the emotional ruin of the world just so he can be the one to swoop in and save it: “All democracies fail because… people are fuckin’ stupid.”
Suffice it to say, The Boys season 4 will once again be taking the cynical track on its political commentary — particularly with Victoria Neuman (Claudia Doumit) on the presidential ticket as VP (and probably downplaying the events that happened at God U at the end of Gen V season 1) and still under the thumb of Homelander.
At least Butcher (Karl Urban) is already seemingly on the case. And now he appears to be reporting to someone about what his team is up to. We don’t know exactly who he’s talking to yet, but the mystery guy is played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who seems like a perfect addition to the charisma The Boys is already bandying about.
The new season is still “coming soon” per the trailer. It will star Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Antony Starr, Erin Moriarty, Jessie T. Usher, Laz Alonso, Chace Crawford, Tomer Capone, Karen Fukuhara, Colby Minifie, Claudia Doumit, and Cameron Crovetti. In addition to Morgan, The Boys season 4 will also Susan Heyward and Valorie Curry.
