Netflix’s new Korean horror series Gyeongseong Creature will premiere just in time for Christmas. A trailer released on Thursday reveals the show’s creepy-World War II setting and even gives us a glimpse at the monster at its center.
Gyeongseong Creature is set in Gyeongseong (the former name for Seoul) in 1945 during the Japanese colonization of Korea. It follows two characters as they investigate the mysterious happenings around a seemingly deadly hospital and the dark secret it hides in its basement. The trailer is full of drama and slick style, but it’s not until it gives us our first look at the basement that the horrors of what they’ll find start to become clear.
The series stars Park Seo-joon (Parasite) and Han So-hee (My Name) as its two leads, along with Kim Soo-hyun (Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald), Kim Hae-sook (Revenant), and Jo Han-chul (Kingdom). It’s written by Kang Eun-kyung (King of Baking).
Netflix will release Gyeongseong Creature in two parts, with the first scheduled to land on Dec. 22, and the second wave arriving on Jan. 5.
