Obsidian is a resource you’ll have to find in Lego Fortnite if you want to level up your village or make better weapons and tools. Finding it is going to take a bit of prep work, though, as it is only found in one biome.
Our Lego Fortnite guide will explain how to get obsidian and what you’ll use it for.
How to get obsidian in Lego Fortnite
Obsidian is only found in “dry valley” caves — so you’ll need to find a desert biome first, and then you’ll need to find a cave. You’ll know you’re in the right place when you start getting hot and seeing cactuses (cacti?) everywhere. (Those are good for gathering flexwood.)
Once you’re there, you’ll just have to wander until you find a cave. However, caves in the desert biome are extremely hot, so you’ll have to prepare in order to survive:
- Make a cool-headed charm (3 silk thread, 3 sand shells, 1 marble) at an upgraded crafting bench
- Make some Snowberry Shakes (2 snowberries, 1 milk) — remember that cows drop milk when you pet them — at a juicer (8 planks, 8 marble slabs from a stone breaker, and 5 knotroot rods).
Inside the cave, look for shiny black deposits — those are your obsidian. You’ll need a rare pickaxe (3 flexwood rods and 3 sand claws) or better to mine them.
These caves are the same places you’ll find copper, rubies, and brightcores.
What you’ll use obsidian for in Lego Fortnite
Obsidian is an important resource for the midgame. You’ll need obsidian (or obsidian slabs) to upgrade your crafting bench to epic, build a smelter to process copper, craft an epic pickaxe, and to upgrade your village to levels 9 and 10.
