Sony’s DualSense controller is a great gamepad for PS5 (and PC, too) that suffers from pretty lousy battery life, ranging anywhere from 5-7 hours per charge, depending on the games you play. However, an improved model may be arriving soon, but with improved battery life, plus a charging dock included in the box (via The Verge).
A listing that’s currently live on Best Buy’s Canada site details the new controller, which it refers to as a “V2” DualSense. One of the listing’s bullet points mentions that its “Exceptional 12-hour battery life, on a full charge, supports long gaming sessions.” Notably, the listing shows that this controller may cost $89.99 CAD, the usual cost in Canada for the original DualSense.
The images of the DualSense V2 that accompany the listing don’t reveal any cosmetic differences that could set it apart from the original DualSense that comes with every PS5, and has been sold alongside the console since its 2020 launch. Scrolling through the specifications, this new version weighs 280 grams — the same as the previous DualSense. While some or all of these specs may be true, it’s worth keeping in mind that this Best Buy listing may not have all of the latest details since Sony hasn’t officially announced this controller.
