Summary

  •     Draken, new Swordsman Breaker added
  •     Cross-platform invite and reorganization of galaxies
  •     Revamp to Season Challenge mode

After three months of Season 1, Anvil: Vault Breakers Season 2 is finally here with a new Swordsman Breaker, updated Season Challenge mode, improved matchmaking system and more! Before we dive in deeper, we wanted to thank all the players who have enjoyed playing Season 1 and joined us in our journey. During Season 1, we were able to focus on improving our core gameplay and set the foundations for what’s to come. In the upcoming season, we hope to add more content and deliver many of our promised features. The Season 2 update is accessible to all players who bought the game as Game Preview on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One or players who have access to it with Xbox Game Pass.

Draken

The highlight of this new season is the introduction of Draken, who belongs to new Breaker class Swordsman. Draken uses the sword, Blazing Edge, as his primary weapon. The new sword weapon class will allow stylish melee combat action and can be used by any shooter class Breaker. Additional swords with different effects will be added in the July update so stay tuned. Draken’s skill set synergizes with “Bleeding,” a new status effect that causes increased damage dealt per stack and deals percentage of max health as damage at full stack. We are excited to see what builds and compositions people will come up with!

We implemented a new code-based matchmaking system to allow friends across platforms, in addition to the existing random cross-platform matchmaking. This will also allow easier matchmaking with people found in discord and other communities as the players can enter the same code to matchmake together. The default matchmaking will be done without a code. This system allows for two-player runs as well.

Also, we will distinguish further between galaxy exploration and Season Challenge mode in Season 2. The three existing galaxies (Czerny, Symphonia and Campanella) will expand into four with Campanella Extreme becoming the fourth galaxy. The step-by-step exploration of the four galaxies will allow players to revel in having successful explorations, like a campaign mode, while Season Challenge will push the players to the limits.

Season Challenge Mode Revamp

Our intention for level selection in the Season Challenge was for people who found the difficulty overwhelming to complete the challenge mode. However, most people were off selecting the hardest difficulty. This limited the freedom of map selection. A time-based ranking system also made players restart runs when non-boss planets were given as the hardest choice.

The Season Challenge mode will live up to its name in the new season, giving players more freedom to choose, while providing more challenges. The mode will now become endless (there is a cap, but the devs believe no one would be able to reach it… perhaps you can prove them wrong) and will challenge players to go the furthest. All three planet options will increase the difficulty level by the same amount.

Furthermore, a successful clear of a planet gives Breakers a chance for a random buff to be applied for the next planet.

With skill, luck, unique builds and team comp, show us how far you can go!

Many updates are planned during Season 2 including new relics, new weapons, new Toy Workers and more. We hope to continue to hear from the players and make Anvil a solid top-down roguelike shooter that players can enjoy!

This game is a work in progress. It may or may not change over time or release as a final product. Purchase only if you are comfortable with the current state of the unfinished game. ANVIL is a multiplayer co-op top-down sci-fi roguelike action shooter where you control characters called Vault Breakers to explore various galaxies that are crawling with monsters. Find relics inside Vaults to increase Breaker’s ability to survive and fight on this godforsaken galaxy. # ANVIL
Ancient Vault Investigation Lab
ANVIL is an agency that searches for “Vaults”, the remnants of alien civilizations scattered throughout the universe. Become a “Breaker” searching for “Vaults” and explore the unknown galaxy. Each galaxy consists of random planets and unique boss monsters. By defeating monsters and opening the Vaults, you will be able to utilize the stunning powers within. # Breakers
The Breakers are the seekers of Vaults. They have maximized their combat capabilities to survive various threats that they may encounter on different planets. Breakers with unique abilities and skills are waiting to be selected. # Artifacts and Vault Weapons
Over 100 randomly generated artifacts and dozens of weapons will make every session unique and different from previous sessions. You will be able to explore a combination of different playstyles by testing synergy between various artifacts and obtain powerful weapons to get the “ultimate” Breaker! # Death and Rebirth
The Breakers enter combat with their mechanical body. They are rebuilt in ANVIL if they are destroyed during an exploration. Your Breakers will gain EXP during battle that will enhance their strength and give them new powers. The Breakers are not afraid of death because death only makes them stronger when they are rebuilt. Full details on the latest status of the game, how you can give feedback and report issues can be found at www.anvil.world.
